Deciphering Our Trips
We currently offer three different kinds of trips. Our trips can be broken down into the following categories:
ADVENTURES: Our Adventures entail three day, four night excursions into the wild where an emphasis is placed on key Biblical manhood principles that are taught trailside, and reinforced later during fireside small group sessions. These trips generally feature two days of challenging hikes, team-building techniques, experiential learning (studies show that most men learn best this way), powerful devotions, and times of heartfelt worship to drive home the principles that are being delivered. We cap this off with a ceremony where men are required to recite the principles they've learned in front of their peers, and then are validated for having successfully navigated the Adventure. This rite of passage ceremony has proven to be a spiritually powerful evening each time we've facilitated it.
CAMPFIRES: The Campfire trip was designed to meet the needs of men who cannot participate in our more demanding Adventures due to physical limitations. The Campfire features many of the same elements of our Adventures (above), but is a low impact trip that will cater to men that enjoy leisurely hikes, those who may be unable to hike, as well as men who are just along for the life-changing teaching. Each morning, Campfire attendees will have the opportunity to choose between embarking on a hike or staying back at the campfire for that day's teaching. No matter which option is chosen, each man will recieve relevant and powerful Biblical teaching that will lead them into authentic Biblical manhood.
RETREATS: While our Retreats are similar in length and format to our Adventures and Campfires, the Retreat carries a slower overall pace and has a much heavier focus on creating time and space for reflection, journaling, and introspective moments — it is, after all, a Retreat. The Man Up Retreat should be thought of as a time and place for a personal reset from the every day demands of life; a haven of spiritual rest and renewed vision. Because of this, our Retreat curriculum differs from our Tier 1 and Tier 2 Adventures/Campfires.
Understanding Our Curriculum
"Tier" is a term we utilize to refer to the curriculum being presented on these Adventures.
Tier 1 Adventures feature the core teachings of Authentic Biblical Masculinity. Participants are required to attend Tier 1 trips before they are eligible to attend our Tier 2 trips.
Our Tier 2 Adventures build upon the Tier 1 curriculum by addressing how to live out the core principals of Authentical Biblical Manhood throughout the six phases of masculinity.
Lastly, our brand new Man Up Retreat will feature a completely separate vein of teaching that is focused on offering a time and space of rest, reprieve, restoration, and spiritual and practical rejuvenation for your masculine soul. We are opening up our inaugural Retreat to first-timers and Alumni alike.
